Two-vehicle collision claims life of 58-year-old man

A 58-year-old man from Bertrand, N.B., has died following a two-vehicle collision in Esgenoôpetitj First Nation.

On May 13, 2021, at approximately 10:15 p.m., members of the Neguac RCMP, Ambulance New Brunswick and Neguac Volunteer Fire Department responded to a collision between a pickup truck and a motorcycle on Peter's Road.

The collision is believed to have occurred when the pickup truck travelling southbound made a left turn and collided with a motorcycle travelling northbound.

The driver of the motorcycle, a 58-year-old man, was transported to hospital and later died as a result of his injuries. The driver of the pickup truck, a 34-year-old man from Saint-Wilfred, was not injured. They were the sole occupants of their vehicles.

An autopsy has been scheduled to determine the man's exact cause of death.

The investigation is ongoing.
