Two people charged with cocaine trafficking in Bridgewater

The Integrated South Shore Street Crime Enforcement Unit has charged two people in Bridgewater following an investigation into cocaine trafficking in Lunenburg County.

On April 22, 2021, at 1:30 p.m., police executed a search warrant on a home in Bridgewater in relation to a cocaine trafficking investigation, and arrested a 31-year-old woman and 39-year-old man without incident. Police searched the home and seized a substantial quantity of cocaine, cash, drug paraphernalia and electronic devices.

Kayla Swinimer of Bridgewater has been charged with the following:

  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Section 5(2) CDSA (2 counts)

Quenton Sykes of Bridgewater has been charged with the following:

  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Section 5(2) CDSA (2 counts)
  • Breach of a Recognizance – Section 145(3) CC

Swinimer has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Bridgewater Provincial Court on July 28, 2021, at 9:30 a.m.

Sykes was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Bridgewater Provincial Court on May 13, 2021, at 9:30 a.m.

The investigation is ongoing, and further charges are anticipated.

The South Shore Street Crime Enforcement Unit is made up of members from the Lunenburg County RCMP and the Bridgwater Police Service.
