Traffic stop by Deer Lake RCMP leads to seizure of drugs and cash

Quantities of cocaine, cash, prescription pills, suspected methamphetamine and other items, consistent with possession for the purpose of trafficking, were seized at a traffic stop conducted by Deer Lake RCMP on November 19, 2021.

A 30-year-old Irishtown man is facing a charge of possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine following a traffic stop conducted by RCMP in Deer Lake on November 19, 2021.

At approximately 7:00 p.m., on Friday, police stopped a vehicle on the Trans-Canada Highway in Deer Lake. The traffic stop led to the arrest of two men and the location and seizure of quantities of cocaine, cash, prescription pills, and suspected methamphetamine.

Both men were released from custody. As a result of the investigation, the 30-year-old Irishtown man is scheduled to appear in court at a later date to answer to a charge of possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine.

The investigation is continuing.
