Tip from public on speeding vehicle in Shearstown results in arrest of driver for breach of house arrest

Bay Roberts RCMP responded to a report of a speeding vehicle in Shearstown on July 8, 2021, that led to the arrest of the driver, 24-year-old Hailey Ash-Squibb, for breaching her house arrest.

On Thursday, at approximately 9:00 p.m., police received a report of a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed through Shearstown. Officers patrolled the area and located the vehicle and the driver, Ash- Squibb. Further investigation confirmed that Ash-Squibb is currently on house arrest and was in breach of her court ordered sentence. She was arrested, held in custody overnight and attended court on July 9, 2021, to answer to a charge of breaching a conditional sentence order. She was released by the court and is scheduled to attend court again at a later date.
