Three Hills RCMP arrest two people after locating stolen copper wire

Three Hills RCMP have arrested a male and female for stolen property as the result of a search warrant near Kneehill, Alta.

On May 21, 2021, the Three Hills RCMP attended a rural property to serve court documents. While on the property, police located a female who was wanted inside the residence. During the warrant apprehension, police located a large amount of what was believed to be stolen copper wire in a bedroom.

As a result, Three Hills RCMP, with the assistance of the Southern Alberta Crime Reduction Unit, executed a search warrant and located a large quantity of stolen copper wire in the residence and in an outbuilding on the property. A male was also located hiding in a travel trailer and was arrested without incident.

The total weight of the seizure was 2100 lbs worth a substantial amount of money.

A 43-year-old male and a 42-year-old female both of Red Deer, Alta. have been charged with the following:

  • Trafficking stolen property under $5000.00
  • Possession of stolen property for purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of stolen property over $5000.00

Both suspects have been released from custody and are scheduled to appear at Drumheller Provincial Court on June 18, 2021.
