Thompson Rural RCMP investigating suspicious structure fire

On June 27, 2021, at approximately 2:30 am, Thompson Rural RCMP received a report from the Split Lake First Nation Safety Officers of a residential fire in the community of Split Lake.

Officers attended the scene along with the Split Lake fire department who immediately began to extinguish the blaze. Officers were advised that the residence had been boarded up pending renovations and that nobody was believed to be inside.

The fire was eventually extinguished but not before the structure was completely destroyed. The cause of the fire has not been determined but arson is suspected.
