On August 14, 2021, at approximately 8:00 pm, Thompson RCMP received a report of two males, one of which was in possession of a knife, walking near a residence located on Ashberry Place in Thompson.

Another report was subsequently received that one of these males was now attempting to enter this residence and within minutes, had forced his way in. Surveillance video obtained shows the suspect, armed with a knife, chasing another male inside.

Officers immediately attended the residence but the suspects had fled the scene. A patrol of the area located the two suspects, a 33-year-old and 22-year-old, both from Thompson, who were arrested without incident.

A search of the 33-year-old male led to the recovery of 103 grams of cocaine.

RCMP have charged Jonathan Boychuk, 33, who also had an outstanding Warrant of Arrest, with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking, Break and Enter to Commit and Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose. He was remanded into custody.

The second suspect, the 22-year-old, was later released from custody without charge.

Thompson RCMP continue to investigate.
