Suspect vehicle located; RCMP continue search for 24-year-old man

The New Brunswick RCMP continues to follow leads in the search for a 24-year-old man, who is wanted in connection with a shooting incident in Riverview, N.B. He is believed to be carrying firearms with intent to use them.

On the morning of January 6, 2021, shortly after 8 a.m., the vehicle he was driving was located in Amherst, N.S. He remains at large.

The New Brunswick RCMP is working closely with the Amherst Police Department and the Nova Scotia RCMP. The New Brunswick RCMP is continuing to actively investigate and search for him in New Brunswick.

Anyone who sees him should not approach him and call 911 immediately.

"Please do not call 911 unless you have information directly related to his whereabouts or this investigation," says Cst. Hans Ouellette, of the New Brunswick RCMP. "Our phone lines need to remain available for information that helps us locate him."

The type of firearm used in the shooting incident is not being released at this time, but police have confirmed that it was not a BB gun.

During the overnight hours of January 5 to 6, a 33-year-old Riverview man was questioned in connection with the incident and later released.

Police are advising residents of the Greater Moncton Area and southeastern New Brunswick to proceed with their usual activities but to exercise caution and increased vigilance.
