Strathcona County RCMP make arrests for road rage incident/pointing a firearm

On June 26, 2021, at approximately 7:12 p.m., Strathcona County RCMP received an assistance call from Edmonton Police Service about a road rage incident that involved a possible firearm being pointed at the other involved vehicle. The suspect vehicle was reported to be traveling north on Anthony Henday (Hwy 216) when RCMP were able to locate the vehicle. Emergency equipment was activated, but the suspect vehicle refused to stop. The vehicle, a 2016 grey Honda HR-V, weaved between traffic and ended up driving into the ditch and then into a nearby field where it came to rest. All occupants of the vehicle got out and ran from the area, but later gave up and came walking back towards police where they were arrested without incident. The investigation revealed that the vehicle they were driving was stolen from the Edmonton area. The reported firearm was located nearby in the ditch by RCMP and safely secured.

A 22-year-old male from Edmonton, Alta. was charged with several Criminal Code offences:

  • Pointing a firearm
  • Possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Weapons possession contrary to order
  • Possession of stolen property over $5000
  • Flight from peace officer
  • Fail to comply with conditions.

He was taken before a Justice and issued a release order to appear in court on June 30, 2021, in Sherwood Park, Alta.

A 19-year-old female from Edmonton, Alta was charged with several Criminal Code offences:

  • Possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Possession of stolen property over $5000

She was taken before a Justice and issued a release order to appear in court on June 30, 2021, in Sherwood Park, Alta.

An 18-year-old male from Calgary, Alta was charged with several Criminal Code offences:

  • Possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Weapons possession contrary to order
  • Possession of stolen property over $5000
  • Fail to comply with conditions X 2

He was taken before a Justice and would not speak to bail. He was remanded into custody for a bail hearing scheduled for June 30, 2021.
