An 84-year-old man is deceased following a single-vehicle crash that happened in Bonavista last night.
Shortly after 9:00 p.m., Bonavista RCMP received the report of the crash on Station Road. Police attended the scene and observed a SUV overturned on its side in a ditch along the roadway. The two occupants were trapped inside the vehicle and removed by local firefighters. The driver died at the scene and the passenger was taken for treatment of minor injuries; neither were wearing seatbelts. Speed was not a factor in the collision.
A Traffic Reconstructionist with RCMP Traffic Services attended the scene and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is engaged.
The investigation is continuing.
