On August 29, 2021, at approximately 12:50 am, Selkirk RCMP received a report of a two-vehicle head-on collision on Highway 59, near the intersection with Fey Road, located in the RM of Alexander.
The initial investigation has determined that a northbound vehicle, being driven by a 58-year-old female from the RM of Alexander, collided head-on with a southbound pickup truck, being driven by an 86-year-old male, from Grand Marais.
The 86-year-old male was pronounced deceased on scene. The 58-year-old female was arrested for Impaired Operation of a Conveyance Causing Death & afterwards transported to hospital, along with her 65-year-old male passenger, who both suffered non-life threatening injuries. She is scheduled to appear in Selkirk Provincial Court on November 5, 2021.
