News release

On March 12, 2021, at approximately 1:55 pm, Selkirk RCMP responded to a report of an armed robbery at a sporting goods store located on Manitoba Avenue in the City of Selkirk.

Officers were advised that four suspects, three females and a male, entered the store and gathered up clothing. As they were departing, the male displayed a canister of bear mace to the staff indicating that they should let them go.

Three of the suspects fled the scene in a vehicle while the fourth suspect, a 27-year-old female from Winnipeg, was arrested nearby and taken into custody. She was released from custody the following day and provided a court appearance scheduled for May 14, 2021, in Selkirk.

Approximately three hours after her release, Selkirk RCMP received a report of a shoplifting complaint at a Department Store located on Manitoba Avenue and that the suspect description was provided to officers. The suspect was located on Manitoba Avenue and was determined to be the same 27-year-old female who had been released only hours earlier.

27-year-old Erica Mondor, from Winnipeg, was remanded into custody on charges of Robbery, Obstruction and Theft Under $5000.

RCMP are asking anyone with information in regards to the robbery to contact Selkirk RCMP at 204-482-1222, call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477, or submit a secure tip online at www.manitobacrimestoppers.com.
