Two individuals are facing charges after Saskatoon RCMP and the Saskatoon Police Service (SPS) responded to connected incidents on Sunday morning.
On January 17, 2021, shortly after 8 a.m., Saskatoon RCMP received a report of three break-and-enters and an assault in the community of in Grasswood, SK.
A mid-size SUV was stolen from this area and seen entering Saskatoon city limits. Warman and Saskatoon RCMP detachments, along with SPS and Corman Park Municipal Police were called to assist with locating the vehicle and the individuals involved in the incidents.
Shortly afterwards, SPS Communications received a report of a robbery where a male and female, armed with a knife, stole the complainant's car, leaving behind the stolen SUV.
Saskatoon RCMP officers located the car abandoned in a back alley in the area of Taylor Street and Victoria Avenue in Saskatoon. The SPS Canine Unit attended to the vehicle and initiated a track and found that the individuals had committed six break-and-enters within a five block radius.
At approximately 9:30 a.m., both individuals were located and arrested by Saskatoon RCMP, SPS and Corman Park Municipal Police in separate backyards located on the 300 block of 5th Street East.
28-year-old John Tustin and 25-year-old Tabatha Wyllier from Grande Prairie, AB, are charged with Break and Enter, Robbery, Mischief, Aggravated Assault, Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Possession of Stolen Property, and Committing an Indictable Offence. The 28-year-old man faces additional charges of Possession of Methamphetamine, breach of court orders, and one count of Assault with a Weapon.
Both appeared in court in Saskatoon this morning.
Saskatoon RCMP Forensic Identification Services continue to examine and process the scenes of the break-and-enters, as well as the stolen vehicles involved in the incidents.
