RCMP Traffic Services West charges man for travelling nearly 70 km/h above the speed limit on the TCH

This car was seized and impounded after it was stopped by RCMP Traffic Services West on the TCH near Baie Verte Junction for travelling 169 km/h.

An 18-year-old White Bay man was stopped by RCMP Traffic Services West on May 11, 2021, for travelling almost 70 km/h above the posted speed limit.

At approximately 9:30 a.m. an officer with RCMP Traffic Services West was patrolling on the Trans-Canada Highway west of Baie Verte Junction and observed a car coming up behind him travelling at a high rate of speed. The car's speed was observed as high as 169 km/h and a radar reading was locked in at 165 km/h. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was ticketed for the excessive speed. His driver's license was suspended and the vehicle was seized and impounded.
