The Yellowknife Street Outreach program provides support to the Yellowknife RCMP and City of Yellowknife Fire Division Emergency Medical Services, by addressing non-emergency calls related to individuals who are sleeping and/or intoxicated in public.

"The RCMP has a productive partnership with Street Outreach and it is essential to our work. The Street Outreach van is part of a collaborative response because enforcement on its own will not solve the problems of homelessness in Yellowknife. Time, energy and resources are maximized and successes are streamlined when all of the organizations work together, helping every organization working toward the goal of reducing harm in our community." says Staff Sergeant Yannick Hamel Yellowknife RCMP

The Street Outreach Van operates from 12 noon to midnight each day. The Yellowknife Street Outreach Team will drive to a pick up location, and if the individual is not in need of emergency services, offer to give them a ride to a safe place. This service provides support to the RCMP and Emergency Medical Services, by addressing non-emergency calls related to individuals who are sleeping and/or intoxicated in public, and brings peace of mind to the public.

If you observe someone that needs help and has no violent behaviour, such as someone sleeping outside, please call 867-445-7202 to schedule a meeting place and time with the Street Outreach Van. The Street Outreach Program is for non-emergency assistance. If you see a crime in progress or someone needing urgent medical attention, please call 9-1-1.
