RCMP seeking information following arson of pickup truck and attempted arson of other vehicles on property

The Northeast District RCMP is asking for the public's assistance following an arson of a pickup truck and attempted arson of other vehicles in Lorne, N.B.

On September 21, 2021, at approximately 5 a.m., members of the Chaleur Region RCMP responded to a pickup truck on fire outside a home on Centenaire Street. The vehicle, which was unoccupied at the time, was destroyed by the fire.

Police found evidence of an accelerant used inside the pickup truck and the fire has been deemed an arson by the New Brunswick Fire Marshal and RCMP. Police also found evidence of an accelerant inside a nearby skidder and other vehicles on the property. The RCMP Police Dog Services assisted with the investigation.

Police later learned that an individual was seen walking on Centenaire Street a few minutes after the fire started.

Anyone with information about this fire or who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the area during the early morning hours of September 21, 2021, is asked to contact the Chaleur region RCMP at 506-548-7771. The investigation is ongoing.
