RCMP Major Crimes Unit investigating deceased female found southeast of Cochrane, Alta. – Update #2

Alberta RCMP Major Crimes unit's investigation into the homicide of a 24-year-old female, Sarah Rabik, from Calgary, who was found on Highway 8 southeast of Cochrane on February 26, 2020, has resulted in an arrest and charges.

On June 25, 2021, Alberta RCMP Major Crimes arrested a 60-year-old female of Calgary and she is charged with:

  • Second degree murder
  • Indignity to human remains

Following a judicial hearing, the 60-year-old-female was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Cochrane Provincial Court on Tuesday June 29, 2021.

The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes would like to thank the Calgary Police Service Homicide, Missing Persons, and Tech Crimes Units for their assistance throughout this investigation.

As this matter is now before the courts, no further details will be provided.
