UPDATE: RCMP Major Crime Unit North investigating sudden death

The adult male's identity has been confirmed and his family has been notified. The investigation undertaken by the RCMP Major Crime Unit – North, Kamsack RCMP, and Saskatchewan Coroners Service determined no foul play was involved in his death. Since the death is not suspicious in nature, no further updates will be released with regards to this investigation.



Around 3:30 p.m. April 28, Kamsack RCMP responded to a complaint of a sudden death in a residence on the 300 block of 1st Avenue North in the village of Hyas, Sk. Initial investigation resulted in the RCMP Major Crime Unit North becoming engaged; however, at this time we cannot confirm if the death is suspicious in nature.

The deceased is an adult male and investigators are working to confirm his identity so his family can be notified. We will not be releasing any further information about him at this time. An autopsy will take place tomorrow.

Residents in the community will note an increased police presence for the next few days while the investigation is ongoing.
