RCMP charges man with firearms offence

The Meteghan RCMP has charged a man with a firearms offence after a search of a home in Maxwellton on June 24.

At approximately 8:15 a.m. on June 24, police executed a search warrant at a home in Maxwellton in relation to a drug trafficking investigation. Police searched the home and found a loaded handgun, numerous rifles, ammunition, drug paraphernalia and cash.

A 44-year-old man was arrested at the scene without incident and later released on conditions. He will appear in court at a later date. He has been charged with the following:

  • Careless use of a Firearm – S.86(2) CC

The investigation is ongoing and assistance was provided by the Yarmouth/Clare Street Crime Enforcement Unit and Southwest Nova Traffic Services.
