RCMP arrests three drivers for alcohol-related offences

Halifax District RCMP arrested three drivers on Sunday, May 9 for alcohol-related offences.

At 11:20 a.m., police stopped a vehicle in Dartmouth. The driver was showing signs of impairment, and police asked him to provide a breath sample. The driver, a 27-year-old Dartmouth man, failed the test and was transported to Cole Harbour Detachment to provide further breath samples. He was later released and is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court on June 30 at 9:30 a.m. to face charges of Impaired Operation of a Conveyance and Operating a Conveyance with a Blood Alcohol Concentration Over 80 mg.

At approximately 2 p.m., police were notified of a hit and run that occurred in Eastern Passage. Police located the driver and took him to the Cole Harbour RCMP Detachment after he showed signs of impairment. He was later released and is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court on June 30 at 9:30 a.m. The driver, a 29-year-old Eastern Passage man, is facing charges of Impaired Operation of a Conveyance and Operating a Conveyance with a Blood Alcohol Concentration Over 80 mg.

At 4:15 p.m., police stopped a vehicle in Dartmouth, and the driver was showing signs of impairment. He was arrested for driving while his licence was prohibited. A roadside screening test produced a "warn" result, and police issued the driver a seven-day suspension. The driver, a 35-year-old Dartmouth man, was released and is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court on June 30 at 9:30 a.m. to face charges of Driving while Prohibited.

Impaired driving continues to be an ongoing issue on Nova Scotia roadways. The Nova Scotia RCMP would like to remind motorists that if you plan to consume alcohol or cannabis, please plan for a safe ride home. If you believe someone is driving impaired, please call 911 with as many details as possible, such as location, direction of travel, vehicle description and licence plate number.
