Just before 6:00 pm on Sunday, May 2nd, Queens District RCMP were on patrol in the Hampshire area and stopped a vehicle as the driver was not wearing a seatbelt.
During the interaction the officer began to notice signs of impairment and the driver, a 42 year-old Mayfield man, was eventually arrested for impaired driving. He was brought to the Maypoint RCMP Detachment where he provided samples of his breath which were well over the legal limit.
In addition to being charged for impaired driving, the driver was also issued a two summary offence tickets for failing to wear a seat belt and driving a vehicle with expired registration.
The driver will answer to the impaired driving charge later this month.
