Portage la Prairie RCMP seize multiple weapons after shots fired

On October 31, 2021, at 1:09 am, Portage la Prairie RCMP received a report that someone had just fired a gun in Bagot, Manitoba, which is approximately 25 kilometres west of Portage. Portage and Amaranth RCMP officers responded immediately, and initial investigation determined a male fired a handgun after leaving a social gathering in the community. Nobody was injured.

The 34-year old male from Bagot was arrested without incident. The residence was searched and 24 rifles, shotguns, and handguns, as well as ammunition and prohibited magazines, were located and seized. The male faces several charges related to the use, possession, and storage of firearms.

He was released to appear in court at a later date.
