On March 22, 2021, at approximately 7:15 pm, Portage la Prairie RCMP responded to a report of a dumpster fire behind a community club on Garrioch Park Drive, in Portage la Prairie. The fire was extinguished and there was no significant damage reported in this instance. RCMP continued to investigate the arson.
On April 29, 2021, at approximately 1:20 am, Portage la Prairie RCMP responded to a structure fire at a community club on Garrioch Park Drive, in Portage la Prairie.
The community club sustained significant damage and was a total loss.
On May 13, 2021, a 13-year-old male from Portage la Prairie, was arrested in relation to these fires and is facing charges of Break and Enter, and Arson x2. He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on July 14, 2021, in Portage la Prairie.
Portage la Prairie RCMP continue to investigate.
