Parkland County RCMP respond to hit and run involving a pedestrian

On Aug. 15, 2021, in the early morning hours, Parkland County RCMP responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle. Parkland County RCMP, AHS ambulance and STARS attended to assist.

Preliminary investigation reveals a vehicle travelling eastbound on Highway 16, struck a pedestrian at Range Road 40B, also commonly referred to as the Wabamun overpass. The involved vehicle failed to stop and remain at the scene. The 32-year-old male pedestrian, of Edmonton, was transported to a local hospital by STARS, with serious non-life threatening injuries.

Police are requesting additional information between 3 and 4 a.m., during the morning of Aug. 15, at this specific location. Parkland County RCMP would like to speak with anyone who has not yet spoken with police regarding this incident, who has surveillance footage, dash camera recordings, witnessed this incident, or is able to potentially identify those who are responsible.

An RCMP Collision Analyst was engaged and is assisting in this investigation. Evidence seized on scene suggests the vehicle involved sustained damage to the front end.
