Norway House, Manitoba

News release

On December 31, 2020, at approximately 7:40 pm, Norway House RCMP received a report of a fight in progress involving two males inside a residence located in the community.

Officers attended to the location and were advised that one of the males, a 25-year-old, had fled from the scene to a neighbouring home armed with a shotgun and ammunition.

The area around this home was contained and officers attempted to make contact with those inside without success. Information was received that there were possibly up to 13 individuals inside.

At approximately 8:45 pm, several suspects exited the residence and surrendered to police. Officers then entered the residence and located additional suspects who were arrested without incident. A loaded shotgun was located inside and seized.

RCMP have charged 25-year-old Alec Muswagon with numerous firearm offences and have remanded him into custody.

The ten other individuals arrested on scene, six males (ages of 67, 30, 30, 27, 20 and 18) and four females (ages of 30, 23, 23 and 19), were arrested and released for a later court date scheduled in Norway House.

Norway House RCMP continue to investigate.
