Missing 68-year-old woman found deceased

A 68-year-old woman from St. Andrews, N.B., who was reported missing on December 8, 2020, has been located deceased on Navy Island.

On April 10, 2021, at approximately 4 p.m., police received a call from an individual who found the body along a rocky area. Members of the St. George Fire Department and St. Andrews Fire Department assisted with the recovery of the body.

An autopsy was conducted and the body was positively identified as the missing 68-year-old woman from St. Andrews. Police do not believe criminality to be a factor.

"Even though this is not the outcome we were hoping for, we are glad to be able to bring closure to the family," says Sgt. Christopher Henderson with the St. Andrews RCMP.

The RCMP would like to thank members of the community, other partner agencies and specialized policing services for their assistance throughout the investigation. These include various teams of professionally trained Ground Search and Rescue (GSAR) volunteers , a GSAR canine, members of the West District RCMP, the New Brunswick Coroner's office, the RCMP's Underwater Recovery Team, RCMP Air Services, RCMP Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (drone), officers with the New Brunswick Department of Justice and Public Safety and the Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada.
