Man charged with four offences following traffic incident

A 27-year-old man from Johnville, N.B. has been charged with four offences following a traffic incident that occurred in Bath.

On February 18, 2021, shortly before 2 a.m., members of the Western Valley Region RCMP attempted to stop a vehicle at the Ultramar on Main Street. The driver failed to stop for police and collided with the police cruiser before fleeing the scene. Nobody was injured during the incident. The vehicle is believed to be involved in several recent traffic offences.

Later that afternoon, police arrested a 27-year-old man in relation to the incident.

Cole Smith appeared in Woodstock Provincial Court on February 19, and was charged with:

  • flight from police
  • dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
  • operating a vehicle while suspended
  • failure to remain at the scene of a collision

He was remanded into custody and is scheduled to return to court on February 23, at 3 p.m., for a bail hearing.
