Man arrested for aggravated assault and other offences in Natuashish

Twenty-nine-year-old Matthew Dicker of Natuashish was arrested for a number of criminal offences, including an aggravated assault, that occurred on March 21, 2021.

On Sunday morning, at approximately 6:30 a.m., Natuashish RCMP responded to a disturbance at a residence on Katshinak Street. A man was violently assaulted and required immediate medical attention. Matthew Dicker, who departed the residence prior to police arrival, was identified as being responsible for the assault.

Police searched the community for Dicker and received a call of a disturbance at another residence in the community at approximately 11:00 a.m. where Dicker allegedly broke into the home and assaulted an individual inside.

He was located a short time later on a roadway in the community and ran from police on foot. Dicker was taken into custody and is charged with the following offences:

  • Aggravated assault
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Assault
  • Break and Enter
  • Two counts of breach of probation

Dicker made a court appearance on March 22 and was remanded into custody. He attends court again on March 23, 2021.
