Lac du Bonnet RCMP respond to drowning at Whitemouth River

On June 4, 2021, at approximately 3:30 pm, Lac du Bonnet RCMP received a report of a possible drowning in the Whitemouth River at the Elma Bridge crossing. When officers arrived on scene, CPR was being done on a 39-year-old male from Winnipeg.

Investigation determined the male was on shore of the Whitemouth River with family when he slipped on the rocks and fell into the flowing river. Attempts were made to help the male out of the water, and a bystander was able to get a canoe in the water to assist. The bystander was able to get the male to shore, but he was pronounced deceased on scene.
