Island Lake RCMP investigating Aggravated Assault

On October 2, 2021, at 12:25 am, Island Lake RCMP received a report of a male having been forcefully removed from his vehicle and then assaulted.

Investigators were able to determine that the victim, a 37-year-old male, had been driving his vehicle on the Garden Hill First Nation when he was stopped by a group of six adults, five males and one female, who proceeded to drag him out of his vehicle and assault him. The suspects then drove off with the stolen vehicle.

After the initial assault, the victim remained injured at the scene. The suspects then returned to that location and proceeded to continue the assault. A 37-year-old male, who resided nearby, attempted to come to the aid of the victim, but he was also assaulted and suffered serious injuries.

Both males were taken to the nursing station where they were then flown to Winnipeg.

The suspects have all been identified by police, but have yet to be located and arrested.

Island Lake RCMP continue to investigate.
