On July 29, 2021, at approximately 3:45 p.m., High Level RCMP, while conducting a coordinated search with volunteer searchers on an unrelated missing person's case, believed to have located the remains of missing person, 47-year-old Arthur Joel Gallant, who was last seen in Dec. 2020, in High Level.
The circumstances surrounding Arthur's death are not believed to be suspicious.
The remains have been sent to the Edmonton Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for autopsy and positive identification.
The High Level RCMP would like to thank members of the communities of High Level, Bushe RIver and Chateh who assisted with the search.
The High Level RCMP would also like to extend their condolences to the family of the deceased.

High Level RCMP found human remains
On July 29, 2021, search teams were conducting a search in a wooded area near the High Level industrial park when they located skeletal human remains.
The remains are being transported to the medical examiner who will be working with the RCMP in determining identity and cause of death.

High Level RCMP seek public assistance to locate missing male
High Level RCMP are seeking the public's assistance in locating 47-year-old Arthur Joel Gallant who was last seen on Dec. 22, 2020, in the area of 99 Street and 100 Avenue in High Level, Alta.
Arthur is from Bushe River First Nations, and it is out of character for him not to be in regular contact with his family. The High Level RCMP have been unable to locate Arthur, are concerned for his well-being and would like to speak to him.
Arthur Joel Gallant is described as:
- Grey hair
- Brown eyes
- 5 feet 9 inches tall
- 181 lbs
- Indigenous
Arthur was last seen wearing a beige colored jacket and a light colored toque.
