Happy Valley-Goose Bay man charged after RCMP executes search warrant and seizes cocaine and cash

Fifty-six-year-old Alain Binet of Happy Valley-Goose Bay is facing charges after the RCMP responded to a report of a disturbance at a local hotel on March 19, 2021, which led to the seizure of cash and suspected cocaine.

Police arrived at the hotel room, located Binet inside the room, which was significantly damaged, and observed drug paraphernalia. Binet was arrested and taken into custody. RCMP Labrador District General Investigation Section, along with Happy Valley-Goose Bay RCMP and RCMP Police Dogs Services, executed a search warrant on the hotel room. A quantity of cash, suspected cocaine and items consistent with drug trafficking were located and seized.

Binet is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine and mischief (damage to property) over $5000.00. He was later released by police on conditions and is set to appear in court on July 26, 2021.
