Grand Rapids RCMP investigate single-vehicle collision

On November 14, 2021, at approximately 4:15 am, Grand Rapids RCMP responded to a collision on Highway 6, approximately 46 km south of Grand Rapids.

A vehicle travelling south on Highway 6, collided with the guard rail on the bridge, at South Twin Creek.

When police arrived the vehicle was completely burnt, and two people were outside of the vehicle.

A passenger in the backseat of the vehicle was pronounced deceased at scene.

A 29-year-old male from Moose Lake, was taken to the nursing station with non-life threatening injuries.

A 26-year-old female from Opaskwayak Cree Nation, was taken to the nursing station with non-life threatening injuries.

The vehicle in the collision, a brown Chevrolet Equinox with Manitoba plate KGW 277, was involved in an earlier incident in Chemawawin.

On November 14, 2021, at approximately 2:20 am, Chemawawin RCMP responded to a report of threats at a checkstop on Highway 327. The vehicle stopped at the checkstop and allegedly threatened the employees. The vehicle then left the scene and was involved in the collision a short time later.
