News release

A 39-year-old woman is facing a charge of refusal to provide breath samples after she was arrested for impaired driving by RCMP Traffic Services West on September 3, 2021.

At approximately 4:15 p.m., an off-duty RCMP officer was traveling on Route 430 near Cormack and observed a van driving all over the roadway. The officer called in to report the suspected impaired driver and continued to follow behind the vehicle. The van pulled over to the side of the highway and a uniformed officer with RCMP Traffic Services West arrived at the scene and conducted a traffic stop.

The driver showed signs of alcohol impairment and was arrested. She was transported back to the detachment for breath testing and refused to provide breath samples. She was released from custody and is scheduled to attend court on October 26, 2021, to answer to a charge of refusing to provide a breath sample. The woman's driver's licence was suspended and the van was seized and impounded.
