Driver travelling more than 80 km/hr above the speed limit is stopped by Burin Peninsula RCMP

This car was seized by Burin Peninsula RCMP for excessive speeding on Route 210 near Marystown on March 23, 2021.

Burin Peninsula RCMP stopped a vehicle for speeding more than 80 km/hr above the posted speed limit today on Route 210 near Marystown.

Just after midnight, an officer, who was parked on the side of the road conducting traffic enforcement in a marked police vehicle, observed a car travelling at a high rate of speed. A radar reading captured the vehicle's speed as 133 km/hr in a posted 50 km/hr speed zone. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, a 22-year-old Marystown man, was issued a driver's licence suspension and was ticketed for the excessive speed. The car was seized and impounded.
