Burin Peninsula RCMP stopped a vehicle for speeding more than 80 km/hr above the posted speed limit today on Route 210 near Marystown.
Just after midnight, an officer, who was parked on the side of the road conducting traffic enforcement in a marked police vehicle, observed a car travelling at a high rate of speed. A radar reading captured the vehicle's speed as 133 km/hr in a posted 50 km/hr speed zone. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, a 22-year-old Marystown man, was issued a driver's licence suspension and was ticketed for the excessive speed. The car was seized and impounded.
