Cartwright RCMP arrests impaired driver on snowmobile following tip from public

A 48-year-old man was arrested by Cartwright RCMP on January 8, 2021, for impaired driving following a tip from the public.

At approximately 11:00 a.m., Cartwright RCMP received information of a suspected impaired driver on a snowmobile. Officers made an immediate patrol and located the snowmobile a few minutes later, parked at a residence. Police continued the investigation, spoke to the driver and found he was impaired by alcohol and was prohibited from driving. He was arrested and was transported to the detachment where he provided breath samples that were three times the legal limit.

Police seized and impounded the snowmobile. The man is facing charges of impaired driving and prohibited driving and is set to attend court at a later date.
