Calling all ATVers! RCMP NL seeks your photos in support of ATV safety

April 16, 2021
St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador

News release

RCMP NL is looking for photos of you showing how you and your loved ones enjoy the use of all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) throughout our beautiful province while keeping safety at the forefront.

While we know there are irresponsible ATV operators in our communities, we also know that the vast majority of ATV operators follow the rules, wear the safety gear and drive sober and responsibly. We would like to highlight what you are doing RIGHT!

Please send us pictures of your safe operation on a trail, in the back country, by a pond, at the cabin etc. with your ATV. Each image must check the following boxes:

  • I am using safety equipment as required (helmet, seatbelt, proper lighting).
  • I am not driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
  • I am following all applicable laws.

By sending us your picture, you are consenting for its use on our social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Your image could also be shared or used by various media outlets.

We are asking for submissions by April 21, 2021. Images can be emailed to rcmp.nl.media-medias.tnl.grc@rcmp-grc.gc.ca or sent as a private message through Facebook Messenger to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Newfoundland and Labrador. All submissions must include your name and contact information.

Each picture submitted enters you in a draw for a prize of a helmet and chest protector compliments of Avalon T'railways. The social media campaign, which is set to launch prior to the long May 24 weekend, will feature a selection of submitted photos. RCMP NL is pleased to partner with Avalon T'railways, Newfoundland Labrador Liquor Corporation and Ride the Rock Adventures (a community Facebook group based out of NL of recreational vehicle users).

In 2020, seventeen people died in off-road vehicle incidents in Newfoundland and Labrador. RCMP NL remains dedicated to road safety and the safe operation of off-road vehicles.
