Bonnyville RCMP locate stolen property during search warrant

Bonnyville RCMP locate stolen construction equipment following the execution of two search warrants at a rural property located north of Bonnyville, Alta.

On May 12, 2021, Bonnyville RCMP, Lakeland Crime Reduction Unit along with the assistance of the RCMP Auto Theft Unit, executed a search warrant on a residence and vehicle in Bonnyville. During the search, members located a large piece of stolen construction equipment (Bomag packer). Multiple stolen vehicles and stolen vehicle parts were also located and seized by police.

A 42-year-old male of La Corey, Alta. has been charged with:

  • Possession of stolen property over $5000 (x5)
  • Possession of stolen property under $5000 (x4)
  • Possession of an illegal substance
  • Careless use of a firearm
  • Unauthorized possession of a weapon

The 42-year-old male has been released from custody following a Judicial Interim Release hearing and is scheduled to appear in Bonnyville Provincial Court on May 27, 2021.

"Excellent collaboration between specialized units and members on duty brought this investigation to a successful conclusion," says Sgt. Kimberly Hillier, Bonnyville RCMP Acting Detachment Commander. "Combatting property theft and rural crime remains a top priority for our members."
