Bay St. George RCMP removed two impaired drivers from the road on March 24, 2021.

At approximately 9:00 p.m., police conducted a traffic stop on Main Road in McKay's. The driver, a 60-year-old Kippens man, showed signs of alcohol impairment and failed a roadside breath test. He was issued a driving suspension and the vehicle was seized and impounded.

Later that same day, at approximately 10:45 p.m., police received a complaint of a possible impaired driver in Loch Leven area. Officers responded and located the described vehicle. The driver, a 37-year-old Saint Fintan's man, fled on foot but was apprehended shortly after. The driver showed signs of impairment, was arrested and transported to the detachment where he provided breath samples that were more than twice the legal limit. He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date to face charges of impaired driving and flight from police. His vehicle was impounded.

National Impaired Driving Prevention Week is March 21-27, 2021. RCMP NL continues the enforcement of impaired driving and continues to fulfill its mandate to protect public safety, enforce the law, and ensure the delivery of priority policing services in Newfoundland and Labrador.
