A parent of a 13-year-old youth has been charged following an investigation into a collision between an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) and a vehicle that happened on August 18, 2021, in Clarke's Beach.
At approximately 9:30 p.m., police responded to the report of a collision between an ATV and vehicle on Glam Road. The underage operator of the ATV suffered minor injuries as a result of the collision. The two occupants of the vehicle were not injured.
As a result of the investigation, a parent of the youth was ticketed for allowing the operation of an ATV by a person who is underage.
RCMP NL reminds parents of the legislation under the Motorized Snow Vehicles and All-Terrain Vehicles Act. A person under the age of 16 is not permitted to operate an adult-sized ATV. Youth between the ages of 14-15 years can operate an ATV 90 ccs or less but only under adult supervision.
