A 59-year-old all-terrain vehicle (ATV) operator was arrested for impaired driving after he attempted to flee from police and struck a police vehicle on July 23, 2021.

At approximately 8:00 p.m., officers were responding to a report of a man operating an ATV on the roadway in Victoria. The described ATV and operator were located parked on the side of the road. Police pulled in front of the ATV and activated emergency lights. The ATV operator drove forward and struck the patrol car in an attempt to flee. The officer exited the patrol car and arrested the man, who showed signs of alcohol impairment. No one was injured during the collision.

The man was transported back to the detachment and provided breath samples that were more than the legal limit. He was released from custody and is set to attend court at a later date to face charges of impaired driving. His driver's licence was suspended and the ATV was seized and impounded.
