Athabasca RCMP execute search warrant and two facing multiple charges

In Jan 2021, Athabasca RCMP received information of drug trafficking at a property just east of Athabasca. An investigation supported drug trafficking and as a result a search warrant was obtained.

In collaboration of several units including the Athabasca Integrated Traffic Unit (ITU), Eastern Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit and Police Dog Service, on Feb. 4, 2021 a search warrant was executed. Two males were arrested and facing charges.

During the execution of the search warrant police seized what is suspected to be methamphetamine, heroine, two replica handguns, drug trafficking paraphernalia and Canadian currency.

A 35-year-old male and a 39-year-old male both of Athabasca, Alta. have been changed with four counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking.

The 35-year-old male was released from custody with conditions and the 39-year-old male remanded into custody. They are both scheduled to appear in Athabasca Provincial Court on Feb. 8, 2021.
