Antigonish RCMP investigating suspicious fire in East Tracadie

Antigonish RCMP is investigating a suspicious fire in East Tracadie.

On September 2, 2021 at 01:22 a.m., police and the Tracadie fire department responded to a fire on Wharf Road in East Tracadie. Police learned that a travel trailer had caught fire and was totally destroyed. A nearby building containing 300 lobster traps, and 2 other travel trailers were also damaged as a result of the fire. The fire resulted in approximately $150,000 in damage.

Based on preliminary investigation, police believe the fire to be suspicious in nature and that the travel trailer was targeted.
