Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit investigate suspicious death in Strathcona County

On Sept. 15, 2021, at 9:36 p.m., Strathcona County RCMP responded to a vehicle fire near Township Road 530 and Range 221 in Sherwood Park, Alta. Human remains have been located inside the burnt vehicle.

The death has been deemed suspicious, and the Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit is now investigating with the assistance from the RCMP Forensic Identification Unit and the Strathcona County RCMP General Investigation Section.

An autopsy has been ordered and will be conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

In addition, the RCMP is looking for any dash camera footage or information on suspicious vehicles and/or persons that may have been in the area at that time.
