Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit investigate suspicious death in Spruce Grove

On Nov. 30, 2021, at approximately 8 a.m., Parkland RCMP received a request for assistance from Emergency Medical Services (EMS) who had attended the area of Range Road 271 between Highway 16A and Highway 628 in Spruce Grove, Alta. where they found a male lying in the ditch. The male was declared deceased by EMS on scene.

Parkland RCMP attended the scene and their investigation determined the circumstances surrounding the male's death to be suspicious. As a result, the scene has been secured and the Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit is now investigating with the assistance of the RCMP Forensic Identification Unit.

An autopsy has been ordered and will be conducted by the Edmonton Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

In addition, the RCMP is looking for any dash camera footage from Nov. 29, 2021, at 6 p.m. to Nov. 30, 2021, at 8 a.m., or information on suspicious vehicles and/or persons that may have been in the area at that time.
