Alberta RCMP Major Crimes investigate suspicious death near Cadotte Lake

On June 7, 2021, at approximately 11:45 a.m., Peace Regional RCMP responded to a 911 call of a pedestrian hit and run collision on Highway 986 west of the community of Cadotte Lake, Alta., on the Woodland Cree First Nations, Alta.

Peace Regional RCMP attended the scene along with emergency medical services and located a 29-year-old female from Peace River, Alta., deceased on scene. Peace Regional RCMP's investigation indicated the circumstances surrounding the collision were suspicious.

Alberta RCMP Major Crimes have taken over carriage of this investigation and attended the scene. Peace Regional RCMP, along with RCMP Forensic Identification Section and the RCMP Police Dog Services, assisted with this investigation. Traffic in that area remained disrupted until approximately 10 p.m., while the investigation of the scene continued.

An autopsy is scheduled at the Edmonton Office of the Chief Medical Examiner on June 16, 2021.
