On Feb. 24, 2021 at approximately 1:02 a.m., Airdrie Rural RCMP responded to a complaint from a homeowner who resides in a subdivision off RR 284 in Rocky View County, Alta. He reported that his upstairs bedroom window was shattered by a bullet.

An investigation was launched, and as a result of the evidence obtained, the Airdrie Crime Reduction Unit executed a search warrant on a neighboring residence on Feb. 26, 2021. As a result of the search warrant, police seized the following:

  • 28.4 grams of crack cocaine
  • 271.5 grams of cocaine
  • 362.8 grams of fentanyl
  • Approximately 700 grams of benzocaine
  • A restricted 9 mm handgun
  • A restricted .223 carbine style rifle
  • Ammunition
  • Approximately $80,000 in Canadian currency
  • A cell phone style Taser

Police have charged a 30-year-old male and a 30-year-old female of Rocky View County with the following offences:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking (fentanyl)
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine)
  • Possession of property obtained by crime
  • Possess a prohibited weapon (Taser)

The seized firearms were legally owned by the accused persons, and there are further investigational steps being taken in relation to the initial shooting complaint.

Both were released on conditions to appear in Airdrie Provincial Court on March 25, 2021.

Airdrie Rural RCMP seek information about drive by shooting

On Feb. 24, 2021 at approximately 1:02 a.m., Airdrie Rural RCMP responded to a drive by shooting at a residence at Serenity Place, located in Rocky View County, Alta.

The home owner reported that his upstairs bedroom window was shattered by a bullet. An investigation showed that the bullet went through the window and lodged in the bedroom door. Video surveillance was obtained at a nearby residence, which showed a possible suspect vehicle described as a single cab truck.
