Whitehorse man arrested for drug trafficking

Following an investigation by Yukon RCMP's Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) with the assistance of Yukon's Department of Justice Safer Communities and Neighbourhoods (SCAN) Unit, members of the Yukon RCMP CRU arrested a man for Trafficking a Controlled Substance.

The evening of April 18, 2020, during surveillance of the suspect, several interactions consistent with drug dealing were observed and a buyer was arrested. Following the arrest of the buyer, the dealer was located and arrested in the downtown area of Whitehorse without incident.

The following items were seized by police:

  • cash;
  • an amount of suspected crack cocaine;
  • cell phones;
  • a vehicle.

Joshua Blythe, 28, has been charged with Trafficking Cocaine and Possess Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and was released on conditions. Mr. Blythe will next appear in court on July 22, 2020.
