Officers with the West District Crime Reduction Enforcement Support Team (CREST) and the Dauphin Detachment seized methamphetamine, cash, a .22 caliber pistol, body armor, various weapons and drug paraphernalia following a traffic stop over the weekend.
CREST focuses on intelligence-based investigations into drugs, rural property crime and serious, prolific offenders within our communities. There are currently three teams in the province, one in the north, one in the east and one in the west.
On June 5, 2020, at 7:45 pm, officers with West District CREST conducted a traffic stop on River Avenue East in Dauphin. The traffic stop led to a search of the vehicle which resulted in the seizure of a small quantity of meth and Canadian currency.
Further investigation led to a search warrant being executed at a residence located on River Avenue East in Dauphin. The search resulted in the recovery of additional methamphetamine, a loaded .22 caliber pistol, ammunition, body armor, and drug paraphernalia.
Police arrested a 36-year-old male and 29-year-old female, both from Dauphin. The 36-year-old male will face various charges including Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking while the 29-year-old female was released without charge.
The investigation continues.
