Vehicle stop leads to arrest of impaired driver and seizure of drugs

The Northeast District RCMP arrested a man for impaired driving following a vehicle stop that also lead to a seizure of drugs in Saint-Quentin, New Brunswick.

On May 11, 2020, around 6:00 p.m., the Saint-Quentin RCMP stopped a car for speeding on Canada Street. The driver, who was showing signs of impairment, was arrested at the scene and later released. A search of the car led to a seizure of a quantity of pills that are believed to be methamphetamine. A 51-year-old man from Saint-Quentin is scheduled to appear in Campbellton Provincial Court on October 19, 2020.

Members of the public are encouraged to call 911 immediately if they see a suspected impaired driver. Providing a description of the driver, the vehicle, licence plate number and direction of travel can help police locate the vehicle and take impaired drivers off the road.
